We have a cottage in Oconto County, Wisconsin that we visit year round. It provides an escape from our busy lives and though we have owned it for many years I can usually discover something new to inspire me each time that we visit.
Wintertime at the cottage is always special because I am never sure what we will find when we arrive. If it has been cold but there has been no snow the lake is a huge skating rink dotted with ice fisherman. As you walk or skate on the ice you can peer down at the plants frozen below the surface. Sometimes you can even see the fish swimming which must be a benefit for the fishermen in the strategic placement of their fishing holes. With this perfect surface if there is a slight warm-up to melt the top inch of ice the lake turns into a frozen mirror. It looks and feels like you are walking on water.
